The world as we knew it ceased to exist in twenty-four hours when a regional conflict spun out of control and pulled every nation into the war. By the end of the day more than 6 billion people were incinerated as pre-assigned nuclear targets were fired upon. When the cities were vaporized, millions of tons of dirt and ash were thrown into the air and blocked out the sun, plunging the globe into an unnatural winter.

From the ruins of the irradiated wastes emerged a new breed of creature. Some of the survivors call them zombies, others refer to them as mutants, but the fact remains that their sole desire is to murder the unchanged and eat whatever they can find. Their bite spreads the diseases that they carry and all who come in contact with them are suspected of being infected as well.

The lack of government creates a void that is filled by local warlords who struggle with each other for food and resources. These clashes threaten to destroy the last vestiges of humanity as the basic needs of food, water and shelter take precedence over everything else. Into this world of chaos and depravity Chuck and Rebecca Broussard must fight for their survival while they attempt to lead a small group of survivors further south away from the deepening cold.

Washington, Dead City

An ancient fundamentalist organization has chosen to lash out against its enemies by conducting several attacks simultaneously across the globe. One of the assaults unleashes a deadly virus within the Pentagon. When the virus mutates beyond anything the terrorists expected, the nation’s capital is plunged into a violent zombie outbreak that threatens to infect everyone in the region. A desperate attempt to stop the potential global epidemic backfires as the infected survive a brutal pre-emptive strike and continue to wreak havoc on the human population when they reemerge from the bowels of the ruined city.

Grayson Donnelly, a former Army officer who is stranded in the Midwest during the outbreak, is forced to fight for his life and for the survival of his adopted community while his fiancé, Emory, is trapped in the quarantine zone. She struggles to come to terms with her own survival while living in a government-operated refugee camp just outside of the city. In a nation that is nearing anarchy as the terrorists’ heinous scheme takes on a life of its own, the two of them must learn to adapt and do whatever is necessary in order to survive.

Six years ago, the president made the difficult decision to abandon Washington to the undead and radioactive wastes. During that time, Americans have forgotten how close they came to losing everything and election promises to recover national treasures from behind The Wall have once again brought humans in contact with the creatures trapped in the city.

Retired CIA operative Asher Hawke, better known as Kestrel, agrees to train and lead the recovery team, but when they insert behind The Wall they discover that several organized crime families have been stealing priceless artwork and cash from abandoned banks for years. The problem is compounded when the FBI confides in him that those same mafia families have been kidnapping and disposing of their victims in the zombie-infested city.

The Chosen have escaped from the walled city of Washington, DC to wreak havoc on the East Coast while North America is quarantined by the rest world. Nations, once our allies, begin to fire on planes and sink boats full of Americans fleeing the carnage in an effort to keep the engineered zombie virus far away from their shores.

Into this nightmare world are thrust several unlikely heroes. Captain Mike Miranda, a National Guard soldier, leads his company of tanks on a harrowing journey from New York City towards the Appalachian Defensive Line, dealing death and destruction to the horde as they go. Shawn Ford, a restaurant owner from Newark, becomes the reluctant leader of a small group of refugees trapped behind the zombie advance as they fight for their own survival and end up facing demons of a different sort.

Once again, retired CIA operative Asher Hawke, the Kestrel, is compelled by vengeance to return to the Dead City. This time, he will stop at nothing to destroy the Master of the Chosen and eliminate the zombie threat to the nation that he’s dedicated his life to protect.
